The story of the Braida winery is deeply rooted in the passion and vision of Giacomo Bologna, whose love for the land, wine, and life led him to elevate Barbera—a grape once known for producing simple, acidic wines—into a world-class expression. At Rocchetta Tanaro, Giacomo’s dedication transformed Barbera into a wine of international acclaim, setting the foundation for Braida’s legacy. Following Giacomo’s untimely passing in 1990, his wife Anna and their children, Raffaella and Giuseppe (affectionately known as Beppe), took the reins, determined to continue his work. Under their stewardship, Braida has flourished, remaining true to Giacomo’s philosophy of honoring the land, the wine, and the deep connections between people. Now in the hands of the third generation, with Raffaella overseeing sales and marketing and Beppe leading winemaking and agricultural management, Braida continues to thrive. Their shared passion for wine extends to their partners, who have also become integral to the winery. Cristina, Beppe’s wife, handles administration, while Raffaella’s husband, Norbert Reinisch-Bologna, directs exports. Together, they uphold Braida’s commitment to producing high-quality wines, guided by a shared love for the land and a motivated team.
