Description
Recognizing the untapped potential of this Fourth Growth (1855) estate, Patrick Maroteaux acquired Château Branaire-Ducru in 1988, launching a full-scale renewal of the vineyards, winery, and château. Under his leadership—and later his son François-Xavier, who took over in 2017—the estate has reasserted itself as one of Saint-Julien’s most refined voices. The 60-hectare vineyard, divided into 15 micro-terroirs, benefits from warm, gravelly soils ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon, and clay beds that nurture expressive Merlot. With vines averaging 35 years old, Branaire-Ducru produces wines of precision, elegance, and ripeness, emblematic of the appellation’s charm and Bordeaux’s timeless appeal. -Winery
