Made entirely from San Francisco, a grape also known as Tinta Negra Mole in Madeira, Portugal, this wine tells a fascinating story of migration. San Francisco is believed to have arrived accidentally in Chile in the 1500s, hidden among a shipment of País cuttings, and was eventually identified and isolated, though it remains planted in only tiny quantities. The Portuguese cuvée name “Passageiro Escondido,” meaning “hidden passenger,” pays tribute to this fortuitous journey.
