Description
Hugel & Fils, founded in 1639 in Riquewihr, Alsace, France, remains family-owned, now managed by the 12th generation. The family estate covers 30 hectares of prime Grand Cru vineyards, with an additional 110 hectares under contract. Hugel’s vines, averaging 35 years old, focus on Alsace’s noble grape varieties, producing around 110,000 cases annually, 90% of which are exported to over 100 countries. Known for dry, aromatic wines, Hugel’s distinct yellow labels highlight pure varietal expressions of Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Muscat, and Pinot Blanc. The family pioneered late-harvest Alsace wines, including Vendange Tardive and Sélection de Grains Nobles. Hugel’s cellars house ancient oak barrels, including the world’s oldest working cask, “S. Caterine” (1715). As members of the Primum Familiae Vini, an association of prestigious wine dynasties, the Hugel family continues to uphold the highest standards in wine production, embodying quality and authenticity across their entire range.
