Description
Albariño is said by some to be “the most food-friendly wine in the world”. What exactly that means, I’m not sure but I suppose it all depends on what you’re eatin'! It’s easy to understand where that sentiment comes from however, as this recognized prize of a mouthwatering white from northwestern Spain does indeed dance so well with so many partners. So subtly floral, so alive, so pure and well defined, so... plain yummy. The problem is that this purported relative of Riesling is shy-yielding and difficult to cultivate - so the price tends to be a tad steep. Somehow the folks at the Rioja based Ramon Bilbao winery have circumvented that problem and fashioned a spot-on example of this increasingly popular varietal at a very popular price. Displaying generous white peach, lime and honeysuckle flavors held in perfect balance by brilliant, cleansing acidity this is a wine to go with whatever’s going on cause hey - versatility is Albarino's thing!
